What: Bringing back a vintage NYC tradition: free public swimming in a pool-on-a-barge moored in the East River.
Why: Sink or swim. It’s only here until Labor Day.

Why: Make the concession (stand).
When: When you’re in the mood for cornmeal pancakes, ceviche, and roasted corn on the cob.
Where: Corner of Clinton & Bay Sts., Red Hook. Eat for yourself, then sign up to Save Soccer Tacos.
DO
P.S.1 + Water Taxi Beach Combo
What: Rally the troops for a late afternoon of art, music, and beer. Walk down the block for a full night of cheap eats and dancing on a makeshift beach.
Why: It’s the kind of jam-packed cultural happening that justifies your NYC rent.

An Outdoor Solar-Powered Arts Festival
What: Part two of the Solar One dance series — held in an eco theater.
Why: It’s modern, experimental, multidisciplinary, and allows you to lay on a blanket on the grass.
