All Hail the Cab

RideAmigos.com Launches

In a city where traffic congestion and car costs run wild and GPS-inspired strikes are inevitable, the only cab you can trust is an empty one.

Or is it?

The clock strikes and two men square off for a taxi, raising their hands to flag one down. It’s a test of nerves, ignored glares, and corner advances.

If only they knew about RideAmigos.com, the new carpooling website that’s all about connecting neighbors, reducing pollution, and splitting rising prices between riders.

Devised by one guy whose “commute sucks” (lonely rides from his Alphabet City apartment to his Midtown East office racked up, as did his transportation fees), the free Internet “search, post, and contact” engine allows users to create cab shares anywhere in NYC.

Because it rolled out this week, the site needs compadres like you to post (daily, weekly, one time) routes you’d like to split with other riders. Soon enough, you’ll never gallop alone again.

Ride on, amigos.

Available online at rideamigos.com.
