What:
Boys behind fave Aussie sandwich shop Ruby’s open up a restaurant with 40 seats, romantic lighting, and “proper service.”
Why: Roasted peach salad with crispy prosciutto and white balsamic; halibut with sauteed squid couscous; rack of lamb with tomato orzo.
When: Dinner nightly. Mon.-Fri., 6 p.m.-2 a.m.; Sun., 6 p.m.-midnight.

Stuy Town Greenmarket Opens
What:
An urban bluegrass band strums as you pick fresh produce, flowers, and baked goods.
Why: It’s always greener on the East Side.

Trinidadian Stilt Walkers
What:
A mini Caribbean-Mexican carnival and outdoor exhibition of costumes for super tall Brooklyn Jumbies performers, plus an ongoing workshop series at a gallery.
Why: This is one event with serious legs.
When: Carnival street performance, Sat., 3 p.m. Costumes on display thru Sept. 29. Tues.-Sat., 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Fri., 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

What:
Dueling art enterprises compete weekly to outproduce and outsell ever-changing products made in their homemade factories. Spying and sabotage highly encouraged.
Why: They try to dominate the market; you buy their cans of whoopass. Yay, capitalism!

Upstairs at the Square
What:
The Hold Steady’s lead singer/guitarist Craig Finn and Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie do that magic storytelling thang.
