Volunteer for New York Cares Day

Come fall, you’re so desperate to reclaim the back-to-school spirit that you buy uniforms (new clothes), book bags (purses), and pencils (lipstick).

Here’s a better idea: Stop making yourself over. Help us make over a school instead.

As part of New York Cares Day on October 18, DailyCandy is sprucing up P.S. 9 in Prospect Heights. And we need 100 volunteers (you! you! you!) to do it with us.

We’re doing an art project — painting murals throughout the school. In the cafeteria, the science and arts labs, the culinary and dance studios. (Grade school has gotten cooler since you were there.) Our artists will be Decoradar’s Jennifer Smith and DailyCandy’s own Alison DeBenedictis.

Your assignment: Sign up to join DailyCandy’s team. For extra credit, ask friends and family to make donations in honor of your work. (They don’t have to know how much fun you’ll have.)

No homework. No teacher’s dirty looks. Just school how it shoulda been.
