Quilty Pleasure

Julie Floersch’s Sculptural Quilts

There’s no point looking for a needle in a haystack if you won’t know what to do with it once you find it.

But if you appreciate old-fashioned, painstaking processes, hand your stitching tool over to BK quilter Julie Floersch.

Floersch renders unbelievable modern tessellations using monochromatic fabric pieces and historic Americana craft. The effect is sculptural and complex — and takes bedding to a whole new level of 3-D awesomeness.

Her pillows and throws are on display until March, so even if you’re threadbare and thimbleless, you can ogle, touch, and dream of wrapping yourself up warm for these last weeks of winter.

And hopefully avoid coming apart at the seams.

Available at Jan & Äya, 99 Franklin Street, between Greenpoint Avenue and Milton Street, Greenpoint (718-609-1404 or janandaya.com). For more information, go to juliefloersch.com.
