It’s a dark night in a city that knows how to stay awake.
In a tall building under a bare bulb, a private eye — world weary, prone to overarticulating — awaits the call of his clientele: the paranoid, the vengeful. Instead, he gets a knock from Caycee Black, a young dame who’s cut him up and sewn him shut more than a few times. What can a guy do? If you’re Guy Noir, open the door and ask for trouble.
She’s wearing the Muse, a tight bodysuit with a dangerously low scoop back, and Skyscraper suspender trousers. This Parsons grad (Tibi/Anna Sui alum) has alibis — paintings, films, classical dance, antiques — peppered throughout her first collection.
She makes introductions: Tux, a bib blouse with silk gabardine bubble shorts; Gentlemen, a double-breasted cropped jacket; Rendezvous, a fitted A-line dress with pleating borrowed from a Roman toga; Promenade, a severely chic belted Bauhaus knit coat.
Noir scans each one, noting meticulous construction, severe tailoring, extra-fine merino.
She makes a clean getaway.
