Every woman is entitled to a satisfying, healthy sex life — a sentiment echoed by Sex and a Healthier You, a program aimed at helping women learn more about their sexual health.
Unfortunately, not all women experience the healthy sex life many desire. Sexual health issues are common and can affect women of all ages at any stage in life. A national survey found that 70 percent of women have experienced a sexual health issue, yet only one fifth talked to their doctor about it. That’s less than 18 percent!
Additionally, women who experienced a sexual health issue said it negatively impacted multiple aspects of their lives, including their romantic relationships, self-esteem, and mental health. Fortunately, many of these issues can be successfully addressed through education, lifestyle changes, counseling, and treatment.
Sex can often be a sensitive topic to discuss with your partner and/or your doctor. Visit SexandaHealthierYou.org for helpful tips to getting that conversation started, answers to those awkward questions, and information you can understand.
Improving your sexual health could mean a healthier, happier you!

The National Women’s Health Resource Center, in partnership with the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals, commissioned the survey to explore women’s attitudes, behaviors and perceptions regarding their sexual health. This survey was conducted within the United States among 1,209 women aged 18-50, and was sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
