A shop is a shop is a shop is a shop. Except when we want, oh, everything in it.
Jackson Square’s new La Boutique, a cavernous, bilevel space (which is also a gallery, currently showing abstract art by Veronique Marmet), holds a thoughtfully curated mix of hard-to-resist European designers.
Cozy cardigans in neutrals from France’s Swildens (perfect for chilly SF summer nights) rest beside Swiss designer Baie d’Erelle’s delicate, layerable necklaces. Collection 66’s colorful patchwork dresses are equally worthy of the office and a sunny Saturday in Dolores Park.
Oversize, slouchy Jerome Dreyfuss bags made in vibrant colors from the softest leather imaginable will cause a slight ache — either of the heart or the wallet.
But it is what it is what it is.
La Boutique, 414 Jackson Street, between Montgomery and Sansome Streets (415-693-9950 or laboutique-galerie.com). Grand opening celebration, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m.
