Just because you are a creature of comfort doesn’t mean you have to dress like it (we’re talking to you, muumuu).
Take it from Jade Lai. The visionary behind the forward yet sensible West Hollywood boutique Creatures of Comfort has debuted her house line.
Each piece in the seasonless collection has a detail or two that makes it a bit more interesting than its classic counterpart. Body-skimming camisoles and simple tanks are cut near dangerously low. Henleys with half sleeves hang best slightly boxy. Twisted cotton miniskirts cleverly conceal panty lines, while asymmetrical sleeves give an Italian linen jersey T-shirt dress new go-to status.
Now that she has the basics, Lai’s out to nail the perfect button-down, jumpsuit, and everyday pant. You’ll cozy up to them come fall.
Available at Creatures of Comfort, 7971 Melrose Avenue, between Edinburgh and Hayworth Avenues, West Hollywood (323-655-7855 or creaturesofcomfort.us), $95-$205.
