Little Henry down the street has a commercial agent. And Maggie, the next block over, is making her debut at Carnegie Hall.
Feeling ordinary? Trump them all when you tell them yours is a published author. At age 3.
The NYC outpost of Scribble Press allows mini scribes, ages 3 and up, to write, illustrate, and publish their own stories. Kids can choose from more than 100 templates if they need an idea starter (“I love my mom,” “If I went into outer space,” “All about me”) or give it a go on their own.
A selection of stencils, inklings (cards that give step-by-step instructions on drawing different objects), pens, and collage materials like tissue, glitter, and paper scraps are available for creating illustrations. Little sibs too young to string a story together are welcome to try their hand at simple place mat or note card projects.
Registration is open for camps introducing kids to everything from comic books to creative storytelling. But it sounds like that already runs in the family.
Scribble Press, 1624 First Avenue, between 84th and 85th Streets (212-288-2928 or scribblepress.com). Book projects start at $25.
