It used to be that the guy checking IDs at the gym knew you by name. But a couple of kiddos later, you’re perfect strangers.
If maternal guilt is keeping your spandex from spin class, check that excuse at the door to Equinox. The fitness chain has partnered with Citibabes to replace standard-issue child care with interactive, developmentally appropriate programming based on Citibabes’ classes and teaching methods.
While you’re sweating it out, well-trained and certified staff members (with backgrounds in early childhood education) will engage your tots in activities based on the Citicircuit curriculum: stories, art, music, building, and play.
Projects vary daily — parents can check the schedule ahead of time and plan workouts accordingly — and always result in a cool take-home project.
So you can feel good about the time they’ve spent — and your ass.
Available at Equinox, 54 Murray Street, between Church Street and West Broadway (212-566-6555); 2465 Broadway, between 91st and 92nd Streets (212-799-1818 or equinox.com). Classes will roll out at clubs throughout the city by the end of the year, call gyms for pricing. Reservations required.
