New shop Albertine General is filled with all kinds of dreamy flea market gems.
The first U.S. property of UK hotel chainlet Firmdale, the Brit-pop space has 86 wildly designed bedrooms and suites with upholstered walls, bold color combos, and floor-to-ceiling warehouse style windows. There’s also an outdoor garden, a guest drawing room, high tea service, and 99-seat screening theater (a Firmdale trademark).
A venerable Greenpoint institution, the retro Polish bakery churns out delightfully hot, spongey doughnuts all the live-long day. Old-fashioned rings, French crullers, glazed beauties, and other fried dough delectables send hearts aflutter. Better take a seat at the S-shaped counter, where adorable waitresses in matching dresses serve breakfast sandwiches and pastries.

Downtown’s beloved brunching, lunching, and supping staple never disappoints. Convivial atmosphere has guests lingering for hours (with the waitstaff!) — enough time to justify ordering chocolate chip bread pudding for dessert.
Shiny scoops of caviar, bins of dried fruit, schmears, smoked salmon, and other Old World deli foodstuffs essential for noshing.
My, how divey this place is! The better to keep things raucous, my dear. Seventies-era basement furniture outfits a few wooden lanes where hipster pals share pitchers and try to keep cool while launching bowling balls deep into the night.

Saddle up to the corner taqueria or reserve a table at the tequila-friendly speakeasy below the street (enter through the kitchen). Beware of overly styled patrons swarming the sidewalk.
Jim Lahey’s beautifully designed modern temple to carbs! Roman-inspired pies are made from the finest ingredients. The Tuscan bread soup should not be overlooked.

Besides the unbeatable indie lineup, unobstructed views, great acoustics, and a spacious standing-room setup make this divey music venue a citywide favorite. A downstairs bar means you can drink to your heart’s content while waiting for your preferred musical act to take the stage.
