Thanks to this recipe, we’re starting a campaign to make kabocha the new acorn or butternut. It’s just as delicious, you don’t have to peel it, and it’s chef Daniel Holzman’s favorite. We think it squashes the competition (sorry, couldn’t resist).
Get the recipe. Buy The Meatball Shop Cookbook online at amazon.com, $28.
We couldn’t be more excited about our second round of DailyCandy Designer Collaborations. Why? See for yourself in this video, in which chief correspondent SuChin Pak gives a sneak peek at the goods.

It takes balls to cover Queen Bey.
Singer/songwriter Emeli Sandé, who sings “Crazy in Love” on the Jay-Z produced Great Gatsby sound track, doesn’t need ’em: Her voice is unreal (and her hair is pretty slick, too).
In today’s 5 Questions with SuChin Pak video, Sandé tells us what’s changed since she’s become a star (her song “Next to Me” is everywhere), what she sings in the shower, and the best advice she’s ever gotten. She even sings the first lyric she ever wrote, at age 7, about aliens.
In case you’re wondering, the interview takes place at JFK, as Sandé joins the ranks of Taylor Swift, Ellie Goulding, and Robyn for JetBlue’s Live from T5 concert series.
These girls run the world.
Sandé’s album, Our Version of Events, is available at itunes.com, $8. Want more 5 Questions? Check out our interviews with supermodel Coco Rocha and nutritionist-to-the-stars Kimberly Snyder.
In today’s installment, SuChin has three recommendations for what you should get your mama this Mother’s Day. Just a warning: You’ll want to buy all three things for yourself, too.

Fact: Some people have more hours in their days than the rest of us.
Designer Lele Sadoughi sits among these unicorns: She started J.Crew’s jewelry division, heads it up at Tory Burch, and launched her own collection for Spring 2013. And she had a baby a month ago.
In today’s Inside Story, we took of a tour of Sadoughi’s Greenwich Village pad, from the thousands of pieces of costume jewelry to table settings fit for a queen. The coolest part? Almost everything is from flea markets and eBay (she even divulged her search terms).
While we were there, Sadoughi gave us a peek at her fall collection, and it’s just as vibrant and colorful as the rooms she inhabits.
If, that is, she’s a real person.
To shop Sadoughi’s collection, go to lelesadoughi.com. To watch more home porn, check out Heidi Merrick’s hideaway in the hills, Rebecca Minkoff’s colorful loft, and Lela Rose’s Manhattan mansion.
Sometimes all your outfit needs is a little silk flower, an intellectual-looking pair of glasses, or a sophisticated bow necklace to make it sing. In this installment of our weekly series, SuChin has recommendations for all of the above.

If getting the kids up, dressed, and out of the house is a major production, raise both your hands. Now, inhale deeply, center your hands in prayer position, and exhale while clicking play on the video above.
If these four easy tricks don’t turn your morning routine into breezy fun, take a deep breath and try again.
SuChin is doing some spring-cleaning — and selling the goods on Vaunte, a cool site that lets you raid the wardrobes of fashion editors, designers, and notable style mavens. Here, she talks personal style and provides a peek at what’s up for grabs (we call dibs on her Opening Ceremony sweater).
Go to vaunte.com/vipdailycandy at 10:30 a.m. EST for early sale access. The sale opens to the public at noon.
We’re not sure if oysters are aphrodisiacs, but (in the name of science) we’re willing to eat hundreds to find out.
The fruits of our labor: an In the Kitchen video with Lisa Giffen, executive chef at Maison Premiere in Williamsburg, who shows us how to choose, shuck, and eat (slurp or fork?) an oyster.
The restaurant is our favorite place in the city for bivalves, especially once its paradise of an outdoor space opens (which will be in two to three weeks or “as soon as everything’s in bloom”).
Even our editor who swore off oysters fifteen years ago came away wanting more.
That’s what he said.
Maison Premiere, 298 Bedford Avenue, between Grand and South 1st Streets (347-335-0446 or maisonpremiere.com). Hungry for more? Check out our videos on drinking Scotch, making fish tacos, and cooking a juicy burger. And, by all means, vote for us to win a Webby.

You may remember our office guy, Dan (exceedingly handsome, answered burning relationship questions). Well, his dog, Puppy, was spotted by a talent agent, and they moved to Tinseltown.
So we embarked on a manhunt. Introducing the new and improved Ask the Office Guy series, in which we approach (adorable) men who work at our favorite companies and ask for their advice.
First up is Mashable’s editorial director, Matt Silverman. Today he tackles three hard-hitters: When should I follow a new guy on Twitter (above)? What are the red flags when dating online? And, finally, are you single?
We were so smitten with Silverman that we got him to film three more videos, which we’ll publish in our next installment.
After those, we’ll have guys from Foursquare, Yahoo, and who knows.
Maybe even a few from Hollywood.
Want more advice? Check out our original office guy’s tips on flirting, when to text a guy after a date, and what to do if you’re dating a dude with a rattail. Got a question? Email theofficeguy@dailycandy.com. Follow Silverman on Twitter at @matt_silverman and @mashable.

In life, it’s the simple things that count. But not if you’re messing them up royally — especially in the kitchen.
Thank goodness for Michael Chernow and Daniel Holzman, owners of New York’s Meatball Shop restaurants. In today’s videos, Chernow shows us how to cook Campbell’s tomato soup (above), and Holzman shares his method for making ice in an ice tray.
Chances are, unless you went to chef school, you’ve been doing both wrong for years.
For pictures of Chernow and Holzman in their skivvies, click here.
So you think you know how to use an ice tray? You don’t. In this video, The Meatball Shop’s handsome chef Daniel Holzman teaches you the right way to freeze water.

Juices or shakes? Carbs or Atkins? Stevia or agave? When it comes to healthy eating, sometimes it’s just easier to say, “Pass the Oreos.”
In today’s 5 Questions with SuChin Pak, nutritionist Kimberly Snyder answers our burning foodie FAQs, from her feelings on juice cleanses to the items she would add and subtract from everyone’s diets.
We took advantage of Snyder’s know-how (her latest book, The Beauty Detox Foods, came out yesterday) and snagged a hair-thickening Caesar salad recipe and a roundup of foods that combat cellulite, too.
It’s evident the health guru practices what she preaches: She’s flawless in person.
We’re lucky she sandwiched us in.
The Beauty Detox Foods is available at amazon.com, $11. For more about Snyder, go to kimberlysnyder.net and check out her five beauty must-haves.
