Liquid Gold Elixir

Miracle cures: magic bullets or fool’s gold?

Don’t ask us. We’re total suckers for the stuff. Vitamins that make you thin, soups that banish under-eye circles, vacations where you actually lose weight.

How about a little recipe that purports to improve circulation, remove toxins, purify the blood, and evict stubborn fat deposits? Hell, yeah!

Put on your aprons, you little Betty Crockers. We just got the skinny on Liquid Gold Elixir, a concoction by Natalia Rose, nutrition director at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa. Here’s the recipe:

Liquid Gold Elixir
Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup cold-pressed flaxseed oil or extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. bee pollen
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/3 cup minced garlic
  • 3 tbsp. minced ginger
  • 3 tbsp. Nama Shoyu (raw soy sauce)
  • 3 tbsp. raw honey

    Instructions:
Place all ingredients EXCEPT OIL in blender. Slowly add oil as the mixture blends. When made correctly, elixir is the color of gold.

Use it as a salad dressing or on veggies. Drink it straight. Or take a cue from Rose, who reduces the cayenne and then slathers it on as a skin lotion or adds cornmeal to make body scrub.

Heck, it can’t hurt. And for us, that’s encouragement enough.
