Quite a Pear

Pear Shoe Boutique Opens

i'll take that pear!

Living up to the original ain’t easy. (See: movie sequels, Ray’s Pizza, designer bag knockoffs.)

But every once in a while, it works. (See: The Godfather, Part II; the second slice of pizza; Isaac –- for Target.)

And you can now add Pear — sister to beloved clothing store Plum and the latest shoe boutique to hit the LES — to the list.

Don’t be intimidated by the posh decor (pink bergere chairs, art deco mirror, crystal chandelier); the footwear selection is cutting edge and affordable.

Sink your soles into Tashkent by Cheyenne side-tie booties, Alejandro Ingelmo heels, and Matiko cork-heeled shoes. Slip into Pink Studio peep-toe pumps and S&J flat boots. Or opt for more mainstream lines like Rachel Comey, Jeffrey Campbell, and Modern Vintage.

And sure, the new Pear might take some of the spotlight off the old Plum. But frankly, it’s a tough call whether it’s better than the first.

That would be like comparing apples to oranges.

Pear, 124 Ludlow Street, between Rivington and Delancey Streets (212-529-3460).
