Slow and Steady Wins the Race No. 16 Sunglasses

Even shady dealings require a bit of disclosure.
And for that you can slip on a pair of Slow and Steady Wins the Race sunglasses, from designer Mary Ping’s project No. 16.
Known for “dissecting fashion” (Ping cuts plain canvas into the shape of her favorite designer handbags), Slow and Steady at once comments on the excesses of the industry and tickles the fancy of the avant-garde.
Her limited-edition, six-piece set of shades launches at the end of the month, but the collection of oversize tortoiseshell, black, clear, red, gray, and white frames with square or circular lenses is available for preorder from the designer now.
And though they might look like something found in a 3-D movie theater, they nevertheless have that first-row-at-Fashion-Week feeling.
Which will have more than a few lenses pointing in your direction.
Preorder online at slowandsteadywinstherace.com. The spring ’08 shipment will launch at Opening Ceremony, 35 Howard Street, between Crosby Street and Broadway (212-219-2688).
