Knot Now

The Rusty Knot Opens

knot's landing!

Many a love child was conceived in a basement rec room after dark.

In a twist, a just-conceived after-dark love child is a basement rec room.

Hotshot restaurateurs Ken Friedman (Spotted Pig) and Taavo Somer (Freemans) have joined forces at The Rusty Knot, a small new bar on the West Side Highway with primo sunset views.

Most of what’s been printed about it (and there’s a lot) is crap. The Knot may have opened last night; it may open this weekend. Look, it’ll open. We understand the urge to be first, but it’s not like they’re giving tattoos to the first 50 through the door.

The bar mural and lamp shades haven’t arrived. (“No photos yet, please?” Okay, Ken.) But we dig the wood-paneled, nautical ’70s vibe. The menu isn’t set, either. That doesn’t mean they are deciding whether to use cumin or turmeric; they’re still not sure what kind of food they’ll serve.

Still, it’ll end up on the must-go short list.

Try to keep your pants on.
