Das Good

Clemens en August Visits NYC

guten tag!

Last time you were at a museum you deciphered an anagram, retrieved a keystone, and had a run-in with a cilice-wearing albino (corporal mortification: very 2003).

Or was that the last time you read about a museum?

How’s this for an epilogue: In a fashionable plot twist, German designer Alexander Brenninkmeijer ditches the industry model (runway and retail) to showcase his couture clothing collection for men and women at museums instead.

Short-term engagements with KW Berlin; MAK in Vienna; and at galleries in Hamburg, Copenhagen, and Zurich prove a gigantic success. Clean lines, slim silhouettes, and technical tailoring (how German!) drive the latest collection to NYC for the first time.

For four days, the Goethe-Institut hosts a boutique installation (with dressing cabins and salespeople).

Ensuring your bit part in historical preservation.

Available at Goethe-Institut New York, 1014 Fifth Avenue, at 83rd Street (212-439-8700 or goethe.de). Clemens en August, March 29-April 1, Sunday-Tuesday, noon-8 p.m. To see styles, go to clemensenaugust.com.
