Gone Fischer-ing

Matsu Launches

ready for action!

The time: Sunday. Post-brunch, predinner, when reasonable souls are home sleeping off the (long) night before.

The setting: The 6 train wheezing downtown.

The characters: An elderly lady in a housecoat picks through shopping bags clustered around her feet. High school boys solicit candy bars for cash. By the door, a young woman pulls at her trench coat ties, revealing a little lacy something underneath. Her smile implies Walk of Shame.

Spotlight: on Megan Fischer, the Shanghai-based designer behind Matsu, and the one responsible for hiding the incriminating outfit. In her new line of sportswear, Fischer beckons and teases with jewel-tone tent dresses, slouchy men’s trousers, and silk trenches. Her East-meets-West biography is reflected in high-context bombers, jumpers, and tunics. All of it’s sophisticated, feminine, and tailored enough to keep your indiscretions under wraps.

Quite literally.
