Better Humor

Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream Truck

lick it!

Remember spending hours playing secretary? House? Riker’s Island? (Was that just us?) Sadly, real jobs aren’t quite so entertaining.

But not all career paths get worse with age. Pete and Ben Van Leeuwen, Greenpoint-based brothers who spent summers as Good Humor men, grew up to be the strapping scoopers of their own artisanal ice cream truck.

Organic milk, cream, and eggs are locally sourced. Small-batch flavors (made with Tahitian vanilla beans aged in vodka, heritage hazelnuts from Italy) will please your most mature taste buds.

Recyclable cups and spoons are made from sugar and corn husks, and 1 percent of profits helps protect endangered species. (Calories for a cause beat froyo franchises hands down.)

Turns out some things are even better all grown up.
