Cutting It Close

F.S.C. Barber Opens

give him a fu manchu!

Facial hair has played a prominent role in history, having been ascribed various social attributes (see: ruggedness, sexual virility, bureaucratized evil).

The boys at Freemans are going for ebullient masculinity with a touch of dapper, and today put their mark on history with the opening of a freestanding barber shop.

It’s located deep in the West Village, with mustachioed barbers wielding knives amid an air of conviviality, familiarity, and fraternity for male pogonotrophy.

Grooming services include haircuts, trims, shaves, and promises of an unpansy hangover remedy (face/hand massage and eucalyptus hot towel facial).

As one would suspect, art deco fixtures, antique chairs, and found furnishings abound — along with enough toiletries to rival any gal’s medicine cabinet.

Stroke your beard as you think about that one.
