Season's Greetings

Beth Gibbons' Album "Out of Season"

All music fans have soundtracks for their moods: for when they feel like dancing, for driving, for steamy sex, or for crying into their cornflakes.

But every so often there’s an album so hauntingly personal it seems as though the vocals are sung just for you.

Out of Season, the new album from Portishead singer Beth Gibbons, is precisely that. In this collaboration with Paul “Rustin Man” Webb (of Talk Talk), Gibbons pours her heart into eleven tracks and 40-odd minutes of unmapped melancholy. Her soulful voice, which resonates vintage appeal with a folksy twist, is set to a wide range of instruments, from cello to organ to acoustic guitar. A definite departure from the trip-hop style and sound of Portishead, it’s likely to please fans and newcomers alike.

But guaranteed to match at least one of your ever changing moods.

Out of Season is available online at amazon.com.
