You thought Rocky’s sprint up the museum steps was a tough act to follow.
But it’s nothing compared to Rob Licata’s TRX Kickstart classes, which meet at the same iconic location. Known for his highly effective one-on-ones, the personal trainer (pictured) is now leading hour-long group sessions that get your blood flowing better than any boxing saga.
The morning meet-up time is a punishing 6:30 a.m., so you might want to say no to happy hour. But you’ll find this early-morning sweat session is worth one less beer.
Most outdoor workouts rely on your body’s own resistance, but Licata lugs the gym with him: You’ll battle it out with medicine balls, suspension cables, and deceptively heavy rope. And, of course, you’ll feel the burn when bunny-hopping those (endless) stairs.
In other words, it’s a total knockout.
Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays on the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway. For more information, go to thebodyologist.com. Cost is $20 per class or $75 for five classes.
