You aced your role as a mouse in The Nutcracker, but your technique has gone downhill since.
Leave it to the Sculpere workout, a medley of ballet, Pilates, and yoga created by former professional dancer Cristina Espaillat, to get you back on your toes.
Before you freak about squeezing into a leotard, know that comfy clothing is welcome. Plus, there’s not a mirror in sight, so you can focus on your form the entire time.
Exercises don’t require previous pirouetting. Start on the mat with lengthening stretches and then move to the barre for tendus, pliés, and relevés. A series of lunges and ab work do wonders for jiggly bellies and thighs, while yoga poses relax the body and quiet the mind. Leave feeling loose, limber, and an inch taller.
And ready for your encore.
Sculpere, 209 Poplar Street (215-592-1200 or sculpere.com), first class is free; regularly $15.
