Esteemed fashion designer Abigail Chapin,
We, the Checkerboard Association, hereby submit our application to join your new printed bag line, Arc of L.A.
When the collection was conceived, membership was exclusive to zigzags, diamonds, and triangles. However, now we’re hearing rumors that a circle charmed its way in (thanks to your collaboration with local gallery Iko Iko) and that an Aztec print is in the works.
If accepted, we agree to be bound by soft but sturdy leather, lined by complementary tie-dyed cotton, and sealed with custom-made zippers with delicate leather pulls. Moreover, we do solemnly swear to enhance all shapes (wallets, clutches, totes) equally.
We hope to gain admittance before the upcoming spring collection’s groovy color combos (navy/white, brown/orange) debut.
In your skillful hands we can be more than just a bunch of squares.
Available at Iko Iko, 931 North Fairfax Avenue, between Romaine Street and Willoughby Avenue, West Hollywood (323-719-1079 or ikoikospace.com); TenOverSix, 8425 Melrose Avenue, between La Cienega Boulevard and Melrose Place, West Hollywood (323-330-9355 or tenover6.com); online at arcofla.com, $50-$400.
