Gusto Restaurant Opens on Third Street

Vic Casanova's new digs

gusto!

We affectionately recount the tale of Casanova (first name: Victor).

After wooing diners at the Four Seasons’s Culina, the dashing Italian American chef struck out on his own with Gusto, an elegant trattoria on Third Street’s restaurant row.

A love letter to the old country, the free-range menu tempts with classic regional dishes made modern by Casanova’s innovative touch (veal sweetbread Milanese, beef heart tartare with toast).

Flirt with light starters such as salt cod croquettes before surrendering to hearty pizzas and pasta (gargati with fennel sausage). Let secondi like quail with polenta and buttery black cod win your heart.

An expansive wine list commits to Italy (Lambrusco, Campo Buri), while craft beers (Moretti, Allagash) play the field. History buffs can share a bottle of Bavarian Weihenstephaner, hailing from the world’s oldest brewery.

Now that’s amore.
