Apparently, RealD is the new 3-D, 2-D may as well be 1-D, and there’s something fishy about 3-DD.
Keep it reel with Keanu Reeves as he chats up industry legends for their opinions on the metamorphosis of filmmaking, from its flammable celluloid projection to digital breakthroughs and beyond.
L.A. films buffs can see the doc today*, but the rest of the country will have to wait until Wednesday, when it hits Video on Demand. No sweat. We’ve put together a list of movies by the directors showcased in the doc that you can stream (on Netflix, iTunes, etc.) in the meantime.
You’ve seen Seven and Fight Club, but what about The Game? Cue up the Michael Douglas thriller or go with the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (his rendition earned Oscar nominations).

You love him for Blue Velvet, Mulholland Dr., and Lost Highway. Prove it and commit to two seasons of bizarre with Twin Peaks.
The Bat’s gone. So hibernate with the mastermind’s first two features, Following, a neo-noir stalker flick, and Memento, a shuffled mind-bender starring a blond Guy Pearce.
Well, he can check Olympic victory off his list. You should check Trainspotting off yours. Get lost in the frenetic director’s story of heroin, life in Scotland, and more heroin.
Girl’s got skills. See where they began (and what attracted Judd Apatow) in the indie comedy Tiny Furniture. And, yes, that is her real-life mother, sister, and Tribeca apartment you see there.
The man does big in a big way: Aliens, Avatar, Titanic. Same goes for The Terminator. Tell baby “hasta la vista” and get scared all over again with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Remember Tim Roth’s little one-man show about a bellboy’s NYE, Four Rooms? Our favorite Texas desperado and three others, including Grindhouse amigo Quentin Tarantino, direct the oddball flick.
Got five hours and enough cushion to stave off bedsores? Cue up the ambitious biopic, Che. Or just escort yourself to the couch for The Girlfriend Experience, porn star Sasha Grey’s mainstream debut.
Lars von Trier
Before hitting the sack with Shia LaBeouf in The Nymphomaniac (out next year), get prepped with Willem Dafoe in Antichrist. It’s dark, so you’ll want to lighten up with Melancholia (kidding).
Phew, we’ve done the cinematic legwork. Now go pop the corn.
