Initially, engraving your affection onto oak seems like a good idea.
But if a tree gets marked in the forest, does anyone see it?
Pull yourself out of the stumps with Cardtorial, a new line of greeting cards crafted from Sustainable Forestry Initiative-certified wood.
After eyeing cool cut-wood designs in Hong Kong, founder Yvonne Leung was determined to replicate the idea. A skateboard designer pal led her to TechShop, where she schooled herself in laser cutting and produced a collection of more than 50 cards.
Think minimalistic meets heartwarming. Entice Antoine de Saint-Exupéry fans with the author’s famous quote sketched alongside a small fox or wish someone a whale of a birthday. The plenty-of-fish-in-the-sea style (created after a fight with a boyfriend) tugs at even the roughest of lumberjack’s heartstrings.
Because everyone gets a little sappy sometimes.
Available at Park and Pond, 1422 Grant Avenue, between Union and Green Streets (415-217-8864 or parkandpond.com), $10. Too see styles, go to cardtorial.com.
