Instagram Viking Party at P.O.P.E.

What: Quaff potent pints of just-tapped Orkney Brewery Skull Splitter, an imported Scottish ale that takes its name from a venerable Viking, and post photos to score first prize, a $50 gift certificate to P.O.P.E.
Why: A costumed Viking enhances beer-o-grams (#skullsplitter).

Valley Shepherd Creamery at Reading Terminal Market
What: The NJ-based creamery’s new outpost offers onsite cheese-making (there’s now an aging cave beneath the terminal), cheese by the pound, and grilled cheese-devoted kitchen MeltKraft.
Why: Watch fresh mozz get stretched into deliciously fluffy morsels — then devour.

Wine Tasting Field Trip
What: Hop on a minibus and head to the Brandywine Valley to taste local vintages at three wineries.
