When it comes to what goes into your mouth, you’re quite the discriminating customer.
A pale, flaccid wiener sold from some roach coach on Market is not going to pass your lips.
Then again, you can’t deny your occasional craving for franks, hot sausage, and burgers. Luckily, fast food is no longer foul food, thanks to the newly opened Bootsie’s.
The time between ordering and receiving your meal is deceptively rapid, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get food that’s appetizing — ostrich burgers, veal sausage, and Kobe beef hot dogs. (In other words, a far cry from what you’d find at your typical fast food joint.) Toppings include strawberry/pecan/cheddar chutney, and meats are served on multigrain rolls from LeBus. There’s even a portabella sandwich for vegetarians.
So the next time you have twenty minutes to grab a bite, get something that tastes good (and won’t clog an artery). It’ll be a step up from what you’ve subjected your taste buds to on a more than a few desperate occasions.
Now that we’re being perfectly frank about it.
Bootsie’s, 38 South 19th Street (215-988-0089 or bootsiesphilly.com).
