You’re not one to gild the lily. Sadly, though, that too often means you end up playing the wallflower.
To get people’s attention without overdoing it, look to Lindsay Huff’s Huffalo Designs. The jewelry designer — who has mastered the art of subtlety — turns out beautifully crafted copper and enamel earrings that she makes by hand in her garage.
Huff achieves nuances in her pieces by mixing enamel powder to create shiny layers of color that, once fired in her kiln, sit atop a copper base.
Like a bunch of cherries, three copper circles with colored accents dangle from delicately curved sterling supports. A teardrop earring has swirls of pigment on one side and a patina (from the heat of the kiln) on the other. Graceful blue doves will show off your peaceful nature, while dark hawks display your wild heart.
Or, really, just hint at it.
