A Breath of Fresh Heir

Freshheir Head Scarves

get wrapped up in it!

You’re swimming in the ocean when disaster strikes: Like a scene out of Jaws, a great white bites your thumbs off.

Wonderful, you think. How in the world am I going to tie this summer’s head scarves?

Luckily for those lacking opposable thumbs or tying skills, local designer Jackie Pepper has created a sweet line of turbans that eliminates all those frustrating loops and knots.

The colorful headbands are made from vintage silk scarves with contrasting covered elastic in the back to keep your piece on straight. No bobby pins, no adjusting, no aggravation. The scarves wrap around the front of your head and each other to create a twist at the crown (a cool, unexpected detail). They’ll even stand up to errant bangs, strong winds, convertibles, and yachts.

You’ll want one of each.

Just remember not to go overboard.

Available at Echochic, 1700 Sansom Street (215-569-9555). For custom scarves, e-mail jpepper@freshheir.com.
