Dog Gone

Philly Dog Guide 2007

What’s better than dressing yourself like a person? Dressing your dog like one. Thus, we give you our semiannual roundup of the most absurd, hilarious, fashionable things you can stuff your pompoo into.

Wet Dog
Run the bath and throw your pooch into sudsy goodness by Juicy Crittoure. Use scented Shampooch to get him clean, then hit him with a spray of leave-in Soft Spot and a sprtiz of Pawfum.

Shed Some Light
Things getting hairy at home? The deshedding package at Doggie Style (1635 Spruce Street; 215-545-5900) includes a prewash blow-dry to loosen fur, a shampoo and conditioner with primrose oil, and a follow-up blow-dry and comb-through to eliminate clumps.

yummy!

Yappy Birthday
On his big day only the best will do. Order a bone-shaped cake from Daisy’s Delights Barkery & Boutique (20 East Sellers Avenue, Ridley Park; 484-494-6364), made from all-natural ingredients in pup-pleasing flavors like carob chip or applesauce and peanut butter.

Best in Show
All dog owners want to dress their animals like themselves. Chic Petique (616 South Third Street; 215-629-1733; 1040 North Second Street; 215-238-0981) has everything from fancy hats and matching dresses for your dog, as well as hoodies and regular old coats to keep the chill away.

vroom!

Top Dog
The car-shaped Furari RedBed is the only choice for a discerning pooch. For picky palates, head to Bonejour (14 North Third Street; 215-574-1225) and grab some Kobe Master and Kobe Yume doggie cuisine. It’s a tasty indulgence that will leave you with enough scratch to feed yourself.

Are we barking up the wrong tree? Forward this to one of your hound-happy friends.
