Turn Back Time

Aviaire Watch Jewelry

tick tock!

So the fat guy didn’t bring you a Rolex. Forgive him. He must’ve been swamped. And you don’t want to spend the new year staring at your wrist anyway.

Carolynne McNeel, co-owner of Mew Gallery, has a more creative way to deal with watches. She sourced vintage timepieces from antique stores and sellers across the country and used them to create Aviaire, her line of necklaces, bracelets, and earrings.

Some pieces have old watch faces dangling from delicate chains. Others showcase the timepieces’ intricate inner workings. If you’re lucky, you’ll snag one with rubies or sapphires that were used to keep the tiny parts from grinding together.

And you won’t have to stay ticked off at Santa.

Mew Gallery, 906 Christian Street (215-625-2424 or
