Paper Doll

You pay your bills and read the news online. And you can’t remember the last time you got a letter in the mail.

Seems like paper has become a thing of the past.

Artist Darla Jackson has found a way to put it to good use: custom silhouettes.

The commission starts with a conversation about how you’d like to be portrayed. Her work deals with women, emotions, and animal symbolism (rabbits represent timidness; antlers suggest excess baggage), some silhouettes are simple; others incorporate complex collage elements. Final pieces are quirky, modern twists on an age-old technique.

No matter what, it will be a unique expression of you.

And that’s something to write home about.
