Food Fight

Distrito Opens

modern mexican!

Combine great food, Mexican free fighting, and a My Little Pony stable — and you’ve successfully created our dream house.

We extend thanks to Jose Garces for making our fantasy a reality. His new, bi-level U City restaurant, Distrito, opens today in an explosion of bright pinks, purples, greens, and lightboard menus. Wrestlers are projected onto a screen above the stairs, and there’s a refurbished VW Bug — the whole place is a throwback to Garces’s time at El Vez.

Then there’s the food. Guacamole that makes us slobber, ceviche Veracruz (snapper, olives, black olive oil), jicama ensalada (orange, watermelon, avocado, pepita), and rabbit mole.

The bar is stocked with more than 60 tequilas.

Another great addition to any dream house.
