Book Worm

You know what they say: The apple doesn’t fall from the tree.

So it makes sense that the daughter of a bookstore owner would be a voracious reader.

Case in point: 10-year-old Maddie, whose dad owns Brickbat Books. But it’s her blog, The Brickbat Kid, that’s the real apple of our eye.

Full of pithy, informative reviews, it’s a great resource for kids and parents alike.

Maddie’s taste is an eclectic blend of classic and new titles. Check out her thoughts on old favorites like Eloise and Betsy and Tacy, as well as modern picks like Neptune Princess and When Agnes Caws.

And, of course, each of her recommendations is sold at pop’s cozy shop.

Which means there’s not a rotten one in the bunch.

Reviews available online at brickbatkid.blogspot.com; books available at Brickbat Books, 709 South Fourth Street (215-592-1207).
