Certain activities are better without company. (Experience says depilation is best done alone.)
So you may be surprised that getting your poke on is better as a group thing.
If you haven’t yet met Jenny Corbin of the Barefoot Doctor, her recently launched community acupuncture could become your new Thursday or Saturday routine.
Corbin’s practice offers every benefit the expensive places do, but sessions are on a sliding scale ($15-$35) and shared with other patients in an open, hardwood-floored, exposed-brick room.
Having your meridians balanced simultaneously with up to four others may seem a little strange at first, but clients report feeling less anxious or alone than they might at a traditional acupuncturist — as well as a sense of collective healing energy.
Which is better than the energy you felt after your last group wax.
Available at Barefoot Doctor Community Acupuncture Clinic, 618 East Girard Avenue, between Montgomery Avenue and Berks Street (215-435-3003 or barefootclinic.com). Thursdays, noon-4 p.m.; Saturdays, 1-4 p.m.
