You used to trade all the time: the lunch table, the bathroom, dark alleys. But getting a squashed Twinkie and a bag of oregano pushed you off the tit-for-tat track.
You’ll be back on it today with the opening of Art4Barter in Haddon Township, New Jersey. (C’mon, it’s a fifteen-minute drive.)
The show, curated by West Chester-based artist Antonio Puri, promises just what the name implies. Local and not-so-local artists like Alexis Duque, Erica Brown, Donald Camp, and others list a trade next to their work (100 pounds of wax, gas, digital cameras). If you can’t produce, write in what you can offer, and if the artist wants it, the piece is yours.
This leads to communication with the artist, as well as creativity with your bids (housecleaning, web design, clogging).
Just hopefully not a new definition of tit for tat.
Reception, 6-9 p.m., SoHa Gallery, 1001 White Horse Pike, Haddon Township, New Jersey (856-854-0200).
