You need to expand your horizons. But short of pharmaceuticals, you’re coming up empty.
For something a little dandier, turn to Lord Whimsy, our favorite local renaissance man.
Tomorrow night, the author and professional fop reads from his first book, The Affected Provincial’s Companion, and from his upcoming second work. The event kicks off his new series of talks and workshops aimed at tending the garden of life (or something like that).
With topics such as the history of the Venus flytrap (a story shrouded in mystery and scandal); building terrariums, minigardens, or container bogs; as well as field trips to the historical Bartram’s Garden, he’ll urge you to transcend the “vale of mud and tears” that is humdrum existence.
And make sure everything’s coming up roses.
Reading takes place Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., at The Random Tea Room & Curiosity Shop, 713 North Fourth Street (215-925-2715 or therandomtearoom.com). For more information, go to lordwhimsy.com.
