Marina Makaron Moscow Scarves

marina makaron scarf!

Scarves: They’re just pieces of fabric.

Until, that is, they meet your neck.

And we can’t wait for our necks to say hello to Marina Makaron’s silk and vintage chiffon numbers.

The Moscow-based designer was raised in good old Philadelphia before moving back to her homeland. She gets inspiration for her designs from Eastern European culture, folklore, and village imagery; our favorites are dusky florals. Edgings are stitched the way craftsmen have done it for centuries. Each is made in Russia with love.

You’ll wear the lightweight, summery scarves on the street, in the bar, and on your big, fancy yacht. Loop the silk ones close around your throat; layer on the longer, chiffon ones if you dare.

They really are nice threads.

Available at Matthew Izzo, 151 North Third Street (215-829-0606 or matthewizzo.com). To see styles, go to marinamakaronmoscow.com.
