Flying Monkey Deuce Bakery Opens

The last time you saw a flying monkey, you were 4 years old. And it scared the crap out of you. (Let’s not even mention the munchkins.)

But Rebecca Michaels’s Flying Monkey Deuce, opening today, will put latent fears to rest.

Showcasing Michaels’s signature cupcakes (lavender, hazelnut praline, pistachio) made famous in her Reading Terminal Market store, the sweet shop has an outdoor patio, window seat, and whimsical chimp art on dark blue walls.

Micheals also doles out double-chocolate brownies, peanut butter-and-jelly cakes, lemon bars, and the Nutty Boozer (a Glenlivet-spiked brownie with hazelnuts). Feed your need for speed with a full espresso bar by La Colombe and loose leaf teas from Remedy.

The spot opens today, so crowds will be heading there soon.
