Forget digital. Guerilla Drive-In screens sixteen-millimeter flicks from a projector jerry-rigged to a rickety old sidecar. You’ll have to be intrepid to discover the ever-changing location: Memorize poems, crack clues, and listen to the radio for a secret code.

During a Heat Wave
This season the Schuylkill Banks staff picks a few of its favorite lighthearted films. A breeze from the water makes sitting outside bearable, even on the most stifling nights. The free popcorn and soft pretzels are an added perk.

For a Bit of Culture
Not in the mood for the usual mind-numbing blockbuster? Try the monthly In the Mind of the Artist series at The Clay Studio. Shorts by local talent get subbed in for previews, and films about creative types working in a range of media follow.

Best for a Date
Flop down on a blanket and catch the show on the inflatable screen at Liberty Lands Park. Be sure to drag your sweetie to see perennial favorite Dirty Dancing. If he’s putting up a fight, entice him with margaritas at El Camino Real afterward.

Most Scenic View
On Thursdays, head to the east bank of the city overlooking the Delaware to watch everything from Twilight (c’mon, you know you’re a fan) to Fantastic Mr. Fox. Tote along a chair and get there early to scope out the perfect spot at Penn’s Landing Great Plaza.
