Take Pops on a Father-Daughter Outing

We've Got Your Father's Day Plans

bocce ball father's day!

What is your dad more likely to remember: another golf shirt or the most valuable gift of all: your time? This Father’s Day, treat him to a father-daughter outing.

Have a Ball
Lunch is just lunch, but a meal plus healthy competition is an experience. Take the ferry up to Sausalito to indulge in alfresco winesicles, sliders, and wood-fired pizzas at Bar Bocce. Then challenge your father to a game on the outdoor courts. 1250 Bridgeway, at Turney Street, Sausalito (415-331-0555).

Meals on Wheels
Go with pop on one of his favorite bike rides over the Golden Gate. Afterward, swing by the Rapha Cycle Club to get him some new gear, Four Barrel Coffee, and sweet and savory snacks from Tell Tale Preserve Company. 2198 Filbert Street, at Fillmore Street (415-896-4671).

On the Vine
If your padre sticks to merlot and chard, help him expand his wine knowledge with a two-hour workshop from The Distilled Man (enter “dailycandy” at brownpapertickets.com to get tickets for $72; twenty percent off the $90 price tag). He’ll sample wines from different regions and improve his ordering skills while you, well, sip wine.

Shave and a Haircut
Your lineage is stylin’. Take your dapper old man for an old-school straight-razor shave and shoe shine at the new F.S.C. Barber in the Mission. Then buy him a proper brunch, being careful not to scuff up those loafers. 696 Valencia Street, at 18th Street (415-621-9000).

Science Fair
Dad likes camping. You, not so much. Head indoors: Get a group of fathers and daughters to book a private sleepover at the California Academy of Sciences. Along with exclusive after-hours access to the exhibits, you can camp out by the sea turtles or sleep with the fishes. Email spevents@calacademy.org for pricing and booking information.
