Tacolicious and Mosto Open on Valencia

Tacos and Tequila in the Mission

tacolicious and mosto san francisco!

Forget Taco Tuesday.

Today is Tacolicious II’s day.

The sister of Joe Hargrave’s always-packed Marina taco phenomenon opens today on Valencia Street, complete with an adjoining tequila bar, Mosto.

Tacolicious II perfects the original vision, with reminiscent touches (chocolate and turquoise walls, wood accents) and outstanding newness (Mexican tiles designed by Hargrave and his wife, vintage juicers that recall the fresh cocktails).

The taco-centric menu is much the same (eight staples, ceviches, salads), but the locale beckons for situational sampling. Hit the outdoor patio, backed by a mural of Dolores Park, or join the potted succulents in the back room (formerly a butchery). For snack fare and hard drinks, turn to Mosto: It hosts the one of the country’s largest tequila selections (suspended above the bar) and al pastor tacos off a spit.

We just might petition for a citywide holiday.

Tacolicious and Mosto, 741 Valencia Street, between 18th and 19th Streets (415-346-1966 or tacolicioussf.com, mostosf.com).
