Locally Grown Joshu+Vela Bags and Accessories

Totes, Backpacks, and Wallets Made in SF

joshu+vela bags and accessories!

We’re officially over farm-to-table jargon dropping.

It’s time for a new movement: farm to handbag, spearheaded by Noah Guy of local line Joshu+Vela.

Guy transforms U.S.-grown and -woven organic canvas and vegetal-tanned leather into unisex styles. Former stints at The North Face and Levi’s are visible in the classic shapes, clean lines, and durable fabrics of the collection’s totes, backpacks, folios, wallets — even key rings.

He makes each piece painstakingly by hand in a wee loft in SoMa, dying supple canvas with natural leaf indigo, mahogany, and mango leaf; pounding copper washers and rivets old-school style with a mallet; and reviving vintage sewing machines, because they get the job done better. All ensure a long life for bags that wear as gracefully as a much-loved pair of jeans.

No fad farming here.

Available at General Store, 4035 Judah Street, between 45th and 46th Avenues (415-682-0600 or visitgeneralstore.com); online at joshuvela.com, $30-$330.
