Whoever said you can’t judge a book by its cover is right — as far as tomes are concerned. For everything else, it’s a load of hooey (politely speaking).
Graphic-turned-jewelry designer Meredith Peck understands this valuable lesson and applies it to the packaging of her line, Spark + Pepper.
Trips to Japan (where even the most mundane goods are beautifully handled) left her standards high. Each delivery involves several elements, like baubles encased in custom-print glass vials, stamped storage bags, and Japanese origami paper.
And, of course, the contents: delicately elegant necklaces, earrings, and bracelets with purity of form and textural combinations. We love Bailey’s bright nylon cord with a sliver of gold, Jane’s twisted silk cord and geometric metal shapes, and the update of a rope bracelet in Emerson’s cotton cords and gold clasps.
Because it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
Available online at sparkandpepper.com, $15-$65.
