Dolores Park's Neighbor, Cerveceria de MateVeza

100-plus beers and fresh empanadas

cerveceria de mateveza!

Imagine: Dolores Park on a sunny Saturday, and the beer runs dry.

Eleventy thousand minutes in line to replenish later, it’s dark, and the park is deserted.

Avoid this tragic scenario at Cervecería de MateVeza, your new, park-adjacent, Argentine-inspired refueling station that officially opens Saturday (watch for a soft opening this week).

In the mini brewery, cicerones blend small-batch, experimental concoctions. Several taps (four house and three guest drafts) and more than 100 bottles (standbys like Racer 5, East Coast imports, rare international labels) taste better when paired with fresh-baked El Porteno empanadas.

Grab 22-ouncers from the reach-in coolers and return to your grassy oasis. Or stay and soak in the estancia-like space: Mate gourds adorn a reclaimed window-turned-cabinet; old-school game cards spell out the day’s specials on a rusted steel overhang.

Snag a window seat or sidle up to the butcher block counter overlooking the copper brewery.

Hop to it.
