What:
A huge sustainable design market where more than 150 clothing, accessories, home decor, and jewelry vendors shill their wares. Live music, a photo booth, and mural painting are part of the fun.
Why: SF’s largest outdoor fashion festival comes only twice a year.

PARTY
Hecho en San Francisco: Not Your Typical Cinco de Mayo
What:
Celebrate the holiday with unlimited food and drink from the city’s best Mexican restaurants and food vendors at the fiesta benefiting CUESA and La Cocina.
Why: Seasonal Tacolicious tacos, snacks from Nopalito, artisan Jell-O shots from Sweets Collection, and tequila cocktails — all served outdoors on The Embarcadero.
When: Sat., 6-9 p.m.

Kentucky Derby Bash at Harry Denton’s Starlight Room
What:
A Southern brunch buffet ($45 per person) high above the city, with bluegrass jazz by Doug Adams, complimentary mint juleps, and a silent auction to benefit Slap Cancer, Save Lives.
Why: Bust out your fanciest topper to win prizes for the best-dressed couple and most creative hat.

Opposites Attract: a Sweet and Savory Dessert Class
What:
Fifth Floor’s Francis Ang (Food & Wine’s 2011 People’s Best Pastry Chef) demonstrates how to make his salty-sweet black olive madeleine with saffron ice cream.
Why: Sampling is encouraged.

Viticulture + Aquaculture
What:
Join Radio-Coteau winery and Pickleweed Point Oyster Co.’s master shucker, Luc Chamberlain, to learn about the processes of wine making and raising oysters. Start by slurping bivalves and then enjoy three courses — it’s all paired with six vinos ($185).
Why: Two great tastes that taste great together.
