Craftsman and Wolves Opens in the Mission

Valencia's contemporary patisserie

craftsman and wolves!

Sung to the tune of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” (because pastry chef and co-owner of Craftsman and Wolves William Werner’s goods are the devil’s work — in the best possible way).

Werner went down to the Mission; he was looking for a place to deal.
He was in a bind, ’cos he was packing fine pastries you would want to steal.

When he came across this lofty space on Valencia right where it’s hot.
That Werner jumped on the sidewalk and said: “SF, let us tell you what,

“We’ve got pastries, savories, bread, confections, Sightglass coffee, too.
Smoked cheddar gougere, financiers, and little cakes shaped like cubes.

“Now you may order stacked croissants from the counter — hey, that’s cool.
But take a seat at the communal table, and The Devil Inside’ll get you.”

Chocolate almond cake with foie gras-studded ganache might be a sin,
But it’s your best bet, you’ll never regret, ’cos it’s the best that’s ever been.

Craftsman and Wolves, 746 Valencia Street, between 18th and 19th Streets (415-913-7713 or craftsman-wolves.com). Opens tomorrow.
